FAQ - Travel Related Information

Kindly read through this FAQ before contacting us. We hope this answers most of your questions. If not, please contact us and we will be happy to answer your queries.

Q. What is the address of the conference/workshop place?
A. (i) The workshops are held at "IIIT, Hyderabad (Gachibowli)" on 21 June 2010. The term "Gachibowli" is a popular local area name. If you are in Gachibowli area, you are at most 2KM distance from IIIT-Hyderabad. It is not very difficult to reach IIIT, Hyderabad, once you are in "Gachibowli" area.
(ii) The conference is held at "Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center (Kondapur)" during 22 - 24 June 2010. If you are in "Kondapur" (which is a very popular name), you are atmost 3 KM away from Novotel. It is not very difficult to reach Novotel after reaching "Kondapur".

Q. What is the local currency?
A. The name of the currency is "Indian rupee" which comes in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000.

Q. How is the weather in Hyderabad during June 2010?
A. June is the starting of rainy season. Max 30 ^oC, Min 20 ^oC. It is better to carry umbrella or rain coat.

Q. Is there any local transport facility is provided by PAKDD-2010?
A. No. All the delegates have to pay their Taxi and other fairs to reach NOVOTEL Hyderabad Convention Center or IIIT-Hyderabad.

Q. What are the modes of transport for travel in Hyderabad?
A. (i) Local Travel Car Rental Services: Typically, you can rent a car for 4hrs/40KMs (Rs.400/- or 8hrs (Rs.600/-) with additional charges for extra hours and distances.
(ii) Metered Taxi Services: Typically they charge @ Rs.15/- per kilometer with a minimum of Rs.60/4kms.

(iii) Metered Autos: 3 wheelers or Autos Rikshaws are fairly popular in Hyderabad. Slightly larger shared-ride 7-seaters will charge by distances, usually Rs.3/- per km. They travel on fixed routes. The smaller "3-seaters" are metered and charge Rs.8/- per km. (min. Rs.10/-)
(iv) Buses: Hyderabad has very excellent local bus transport system. One needs very specific information. Do not take bus unless you are going with a local person.

Q. I arrived by air at the Shamshabad Airport and want to reach "NOVOTEL Hyderabad Convention Center", how can I do so?
A. After carrying out money exchange, reach the taxi stand. You can either opt for prepaid taxi or Radio taxi. Inform the taxi driver that you have to go to "Novotel-Hyderabad Convention Center" (near Kondapur). Radio taxis are metered taxies.

Q. I arrived by air at the Shamshabad Airport, Hyderabad and want to reach "IIIT, Hyderabad", how can I do so?
A. After carrying out money exchange, reach the taxi stand. You can either opt for prepaid taxi or Radio taxi. Inform the taxi driver that you have to go to "IIIT-Hyderabad (in Gachibowli)". Radio taxis are metered taxies.

Q. I am staying at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center and want to reach "IIIT, Hyderabad"
A. On 21 June 2010, transport is arranged from Novotel to IIIT, Hyderabad at 0830 hrs. Otherwise, hire a taxi at the hotel and inform the taxi driver that you have to go to "IIIT-Hyderabad (Gachibowli)". The distance is about 8 KM.

Q. I am an Indian participant coming by train to Hyderabad, how to reach NOVOTEL/IIIT-H?
A. There are three train stations in Hyderabad: Secunderabad, Nampally (Hyderabad) and Kachiguda. (If there is an option, get down at Secunderabad railway station).
(I) From Secunderabad station:
(a) Reaching IIIT, Hyderabad by bus (i) Catch bus no 5 or 49M at Secunderabad railway station and reach "Mehdipatnam" bus stop (ii) At Mehedipatnam bus-stop, catch bus no. 216 or 217 and reach "IIIT, Hyderabad" bus-stop.
(b) Reaching "Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center" by bus: (i) Catch bus no. 10H and reach "Kondapur" bus-stop. From "Kondapur" bus-stop, take an auto to Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center (it is about 3 KM).
(II) From Nampally (Hyderabad) station and Kachiguda station
It is advisable take an auto or taxi to reach either IIIT, Hyderabad (near Gachibowli) or Novotel Hyderabad Convention center (near Kondapur).

Q. I am an Indian participant coming by bus, how to reach NOVOTEL/IIIT-H?
A.You have to take an auto or taxi and inform him that you have to go to IIIT-Hyderabad (Gachibowli) or Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center (near Kondapur).
